The Debrief - An Invaluable Coaching Technique.

When taking coaching sessions, every 'get together' should have a direct point and learning outcome.

Making a point of debriefing clients after every coaching session not only justifies the significance of your session and its learning outcome, but also solidifies the value brought towards the client's improvement.

A debrief is a simple yet powerful tool that enables you to enhance performance outcomes. During debriefs, clients can reflect upon a recent experience or coaching session, discuss what went well and ultimately identify opportunities for improvement. It's a perfect way to cap off sessions and give takeaway points that are necessary for future growth.

Make your sessions driven towards a focus and an outcome. Debrief clients, so they understand the value in the session, as well as ultimately giving a chance to emphasize take-home messages for the learner to take away with them.

Utilize the debrief and give your sessions clear significance. It will increase your value as the coach.

Plan each and every coaching session for your clients. There should be a direct learning outcome and focus for each one.

I suggest using a programming software or app when planning sessions. It's convenient for you, but also exciting for clients to see their programming and progress mapped out in front of them.

At the end of your sessions, debrief your clients giving some take-home messages.
